The present invention relates to certain bis[4-(2,6- dialkyl)phenol]silane derivatives of the formula: (see formula I) wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently a C1-C6 alkyl group; Z is a thio, oxy or methyl.ene group; and A is a C1-C4 alkylene group; which are useful as inhibitors of LDL lipid peroxidation and as antiatherosclerotic agents.
