Bisacylphosphine sulfides of formula I (See formula I) wherein R1 is unsubstituted C1-C18alkyl or C1-C8alkyl which is substituted by phenyl, -CN, C1-C12alkoxy or halogen, C1-C18alkenyl, unsubstituted C1-C8cycloalkyl or C5-C8cycloalkyl which is substituted by C1-C12alkyl; C1-C12alkoxy or halogen, unsubsti- tuted C6-C12aryl or C6-C12aryl which is substituted by halogen, C1-C12alkyl or C1-C12alkoxy, or a 5- or 6-membered aromatic heterocyclic radical which contains oxygen, sulfur and/or nitrogen and is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C1-C4alkyl or C1-C4alkoxy, and R2 and R3 are each independently of the other unsubstituted C1-C18alkyl or C1- C8alkyl which is substituted by phenyl,halogen or C1-C12alkoxy, C2-C6alkenyl, unsubstituted C5-C8cycloalkyl or C5-C8cycloalkyl which is substituted by C1-C12alkyl, C1- C12alkoxy or halogen, unsubstituted C6-C12ary1 or C6-C12aryl which is substituted by C1- C12alkyl, C1-C12alkoxy, C2-C12alkoxyalkyl, C1-C4alkylthio or halogen, or a 5- or 6- membered aromatic heterocyclic radical which contains oxygen, sulfur and/or nitrogen and is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C1-C4alkyl or C1-C4alkoxy are suitable initiators for the light-induced polymerisation of compounds containing ethylenically unsaturated double bonds.
