The invention concerns a bistable reflection display device comprising a liquid crystal material (30) enclosed between two parallel substrates (20, 40) provided with aligning means on the electrodes, which direct the liquid crystal and enable to produce alternately at least two distinct stable or metastable textures in the absence of field, means for applying, on the liquid crystal, electric signals which enable to switch by breaking the anchoring on at least one of the substrates, a polarizer (10) associated with the front surface of the device and oriented at an angle ranging between 15· and 75· relative to the member directing the liquid crystal on the front surface of the device, and a reflective, specular or diffusing element (50), placed on the rear surface of the liquid crystal.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif bistable d'affichage en réflexion comprenant un matériau cristal liquide (30) contenu entre deux substrats parallèles (20, 40) munis, des moyens d'alignement sur les électrodes, qui orientent le cristal liquide et permettent la réalisation alternative d'au moins deux textures distinctes stables ou métastables en absence de champ, des moyens pour appliquer, sur le cristal liquide, des signaux électriques qui permettent de commuter par cassure de l'ancrage sur au moins un des deux substrats, un polariseur (10), associé à la face avant du dispositif et orienté à un angle compris entre 15~ et 75~ par rapport au directeur du cristal liquide sur la face avant du dispositif, et un élément (50) réflectif, spéculaire ou diffusant, placé sur la face arrière du cristal liquide.
