ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bit for drilling holes in rock is provided with inserts of sintered carbides, the base whereof in cross-section perpendicular to the edge of the drill point has a downward convex curve. The section of the insert in the plane of symmetry is an irregular quadrangle, the side situated nearest to the axis of the bit being inclined thereto at an acute angle ?, and the side corresponding with the base of the insert is inclined to the axis at an angle .epsilon. determined by the interdependence 90> .epsilon. ? 90 - ?, wherein ? < 30°. Moreover, the plane of symmetry of the insert lies at an angle ? determined by the interdependence 90 ? ? ? 90 + ?, wherein ? is the angle of incidence of the drill point of the bit.
