A modulation method generates a rate 16/17 (d = 0, G = 7/I = 11) modulation code for transferring user digital data bytes having a three-way ECC interleave through a data transfer channel in accordance with the steps of: shuffling (112, 114) the user data bytes in order to rearrange an order of the bytes in a predetermined manner and putting out AiBi byte pairs, encoding (116) eight bits of the Ai bytes of the AiBi byte pairs in accordance with a predetermined rate 8/9 modulation code to produce nine code bits a0-a8, and interleaving (130) the nine code bits a0-a8 of each Ai byte with eight unencoded bits of each Bi byte in accordance with a predetermined bitwise interleave pattern to generate the rate 16/17 modulation code. A preferred code and circuitry for the modulation method are also described.
Un procédé de modulation donne un code de modulation à rythme 16/17 (d = 0, G = 7/I = 11) permettant le transfert d'octets de données numériques d'utilisateur, en étant doté d'un code de correction d'erreurs à trois voies, par un canal de transfert de données, selon les étapes suivantes: brassage (112, 114) des octets de données d'utilisateur pour réarranger l'ordre des octets de façon déterminée et délivrer des paires d'octets AiBi, codage (116) de huit bits des octets Ai des paires d'octets AiBi selon un code de modulation déterminé à rythme 8/9 pour produire neuf bits de code a0-a8, et entrelaçage (130) de ces neuf bits de code a0-a8, propres à chaque octet Ai, avec huit bits non codés de chaque octet Bi selon un schéma d'entrelacement par bits prédéterminé, pour produire le code de modulation à rythme 16/17. On décrit aussi un code et des circuits préférés pour mettre en oeuvre ce procédé de modulation.
