2102311 9219683 PCTABS00017 A bitumen emulsion comprising 40 to 80 wt. percent bitumen, 0.05 to 1.0 wt. percent emulsifier and 14 to 59.95 wt. percent water, the emulsion being substantially free of organic solvent, and containing emulsified bitumen droplets having a mean particle size of from 2 to 10 micrometres with a standard deviation of no more than 0.3. The emulsion is produced using a static mixing process. The emulsion can be used, for example, in road repair applications and has the advantage that the emulsion can be prepared and stored before use ('delayed-set') without the need to include organic solvent in the emulsion mix.
