A blade protector for an ice skate comprising a hollow body formed of flexible material suitable for fitting over the skate blade, the material having inner and outer layers joined by seams along upper edges of the body which define a channel for an elastic cord capable of holding the upper edges in position around a skate blade. The material is flexible enough for the protector to be folded and to be everted. One end of the protector has a pull tab or loop allowing a user to stretch the upper edges around a skate blade, this being joined to the upper edges of the protector so as to be equally accessible before and after its eversion. Preferably the protector material includes one or two layers of cut-resistant strip material extending along a central region of the protector for contacting the skate blade.
