ABSTRACT It is known to use refractory concrete for repair of blast furnace shafts by injection of the concrete. In this invention, linings for refrac- tory concrete blast furnaces are provided in the form of finished construction components having a volume of more than 0.2 m3, preferably more than 0.4 m3. The cement proportion of the concrete comprises a mixture of: (a) 10 to 30% by weight a mineral alkaline earth substance which is selected from the group consisting of the metallurgical slags containing calcium-mono-aluminate, calcium-di-aluminate or calcium-silico-aluminate; alumina-containing concretes of the type calcium mono-aluminate and calcium di-aluminate; alumina-contain- ing silicate cements; silicates of calcium or barium and the alkaline earth oxides, which are preferably fired at very high temperature; from the group of magnesium oxide, dolomite, calcium oxide and barium oxide either individu- ally or a plurality thereof; (b) 14 to 54% by weight silicon oxide, chromium oxide titanium dioxide, zirconium oxide and aluminium oxide individually or a plurality thereof with a particle size of from 100 .ANG. to 0.1 µm; (c) 14 to 54% by weight of an inert filler material with a particle size of from 1 to 100 µm. The sum of constituents B and C in the mixture amounts to 70 to 90% by weight.
