Pulp bleaching processes employing peroxides and/or oxygen are improved by usingbleaching additives, preferably before the application of the peroxide and/or oxygen. The bleaching additives contain at least one alkali metal sulfamate such as a sodium sulfamate and a polyaminocarboxylic acid such as DTPA or a salt thereof, such assodium DTPA.
