The present invention relates to bleaching compositions comprising a protease variant. One bleaching composition comprises a protease variant including a substitution of an amino acid residue with another naturally occurring amino acid residue at an amino acid residue position corresponding to positions 230 and 232 of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens subtilisin a bleaching agent which is either an organic peroxyacid or a combination of a bleach activator and a peroxygen compound capable of yielding hydrogen peroxide that can react with the activator to form an organic peroxyacid in situ in a bleaching solution formed from the composition; and one or more cleaning adjunct materials. Methods for using the bleaching compositions are also provided.
