Abstract Bleaching Process A process for bleaching fibrous lignocellulosic pulp prepared at least partially by mechanical treatment which process comprises treating the pulp with a bleaching effective amount of a thiol compound of the general formula: R1X-Y-SR2 wherein Y is aryl or -(CH2)?, n is 2-8; X is O or S; and R1 and R2 which may be the same or different are hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl groups optionally substituted with mercapto.
