ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The coloring of preformed cellulosic materials is effected by chemically cross-linking a water-insoluble colorant particle to the cellulosic material, the colorant particle being the reaction product of an organic polymer bearing substituent groups reactive with acid halides, and a reactive dye compound. The resulting articles are bleed resistant.
