An improved method of dyeing a polyolefin material, and preferably a polypropylene based fiber, involves a disperse dye mix including a selected plurality of disperse dyes from the same primary color group. Each dye within the mix and the concentration of each dye within the mix is selected by testing individual disperse dye solutions with an undyed sample and determining the maximum dye concentration which will produce an acceptable crocking test for that dye. A plurality of disperse dyes within the mix are each at a concentration of at least 75 % of the maximum dye concentration for that individual dye. The selected dye mix is used to prepare a disperse dye mix solution which is then contacted with the polyolefin material to reliably dye the material without fastness problems. A red dye mix, a blue dye mix, and the yellow dye mix may each be prepared and may each be separately used to dye polypropylene fibers with relatively dark shade without crocking problems. Different proportions of each of the three dye mixes may be used to dye polypropylene fibers at various selected shades and color depths.
L'invention concerne un procédé amélioré de coloration d'une matière de polyoléfine, et de préférence d'une fibre à base de polyoléfine, le procédé comprenant un mélange de colorants dispersés incluant plusieurs colorants dispersés sélectionnés provenant du même groupe de couleurs primaires. On sélectionne chaque colorant du mélange ainsi que la concentration de chaque colorant dans le mélange en essayant des solutions individuelles de colorants dispersés sur un échantillon non coloré puis en déterminant la concentration maximale de colorant produisant un essai de dégorgement par frottement acceptable pour ce colorant. Plusieurs colorants dispersés dans le mélange présentent chacun une concentration d'au moins 75 % de la concentration maximale de colorant pour ce colorant individuel. Le mélange de colorants sélectionné s'utilise dans la préparation d'une solution de mélange de colorants dispersés qui est ensuite mise en contact avec la matière de polyoléfine pour obtenir une coloration sûre de la matière, sans problèmes de solidité. On peut préparer un mélange de colorants rouge, un mélange de colorants bleu et un mélange de colorants jaune et les utiliser séparément pour colorer des fibres de polypropylène dans des tons relativement sombres sans qu'il y ait de problèmes de dégorgement par frottement. On peut utiliser différentes proportions de chacun des trois mélanges de colorants pour colorer des fibres de polypropylène dans plusieurs tons et profondeurs de couleurs sélectionnés.
