ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a method and apparatus for the manufacture of block bottom bags. The method includes the step of forming a main crease widthwise in a substantially rectangular tube of plastic material, folding open one end of the tube, applying a pair of spaced parallel strips of a hot melt adhesive to the folded open portion of the tube, forming a pair of flaps, folding a first flap over a second flap such that a portion of the first flap overlies a portion of the second flap, folding back on itself the overlying portion of the first flap, applying adhesive to the folded back part, and refolding the part to its original position to completely seal the bottom of the bag without requiring the application of a bottom patch. - 1 -
