A block copolymer composed of one or more segments having acid groups and one or more segments substantially free from acid groups, wherein the former segments are represented by the general formula (1): (1) (wherein m is an integer of 10 or above; Ar1, Ar2, and Ar3 are each independently a divalent aromatic group; at least one of Ar1 and Ar2 has an acid group and Ar3 may have an acid group or may be free from acid groups; and Y is -CO- or -SO2- and Y~s may be different from each other) and the latter segments comprise repeating units represented by the general formula (2): (2) (wherein n is an integer of 10 or above; Ar4 and Ar5 are each independently a divalent aromatic group; and Z is -CO- or -SO2- and Z~s may be different from each other). The block copolymer exerts more excellent performances as the polyelectrolyte in fuel cells and so on.

L'invention concerne un copolymère séquencé composé d'au moins un segment possédant des groupes acides et d'au moins un segment pratiquement exempt de groupes acides. Ledit premier segment est représenté par la formule générale (1), dans laquelle m est un nombre entier égal ou supérieur à 10, Ar?1¿, Ar?2¿ et Ar?3¿ représentent respectivement et indépendamment un groupe aromatique divalent, Ar?1¿ou Ar?2¿ représente un groupe acide et Ar?3¿ peut posséder un groupe acide ou être exempt de groupes acides et Y représente -CO- ou -SO?2¿- et Y's peuvent être différents. Le second segment renferme des unités de répétition représentées par la formule générale (2), dans laquelle n est un nombre entier égal ou supérieur à 10, Ar?4¿ et Ar?5¿ représentent respectivement et indépendamment un groupe aromatique divalent, et Z représente -CO- ou -SO?2¿- et Z's peuvent être différents. Ce polymère séquencé présente plus capacités excellentes en tant que polyélectrolyte dans des piles à combustibles etc.
