BLOOD COMPONENT COLLECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS ABSTRACT A blood component collection systems (10, 12) and methods utilize centrifugation to first separate whole blood into red blood cells and platelet-rich plasma. Noncentrifugal separation is then utilized to further separate the platelet-rich plasma into platelet concentrate and plasma which is virtually free of platelets. The systems and methods are applicable for use in association with both batch and continuous flow procedures.
