The invention relates to an apparatus, and method for a one handed procedure that encapsulates the connector of a blood evacuation system prior to reinfusion. The blood evacuation system (14) comprises a separable, flexible inner bag (38) inside an outer rigid container (16) for reinfusing shed blood drawn from the collection chamber of a chest drainage unit (12). The container further includes a lid (18) with a nest (28) formed on the outside surface of the lid for employing a one handed procedure for encapsulating a blood spike (26). The nest stores and dispenses a blood spike cover (58) used to encapsulate, and seal the distal end of the blood spike. The one handed procedure comprises the steps of disengaging the blood spike from container lid. Once inserted inside the nest the cover snaps on, and seals the blood spike. The user may then safely remove the covered blood spike from the nest without fear of contamination.
Cette invention se rapporte à un appareil et à un procédé permettant à un opérateur d'exécuter avec une seule main l'encapsulation du raccord d'un système évacuateur sanguin d'autotransfusion avant la réinjection. Ce système d'évacuateur sanguin (14) comprend un récipient interne souple séparable (38) placé à l'intérieur d'un récipient rigide externe (16) destiné à réinjecter le sang évacué, aspiré de la chambre collectrice d'une unité de drainage thoracique (12). Cet évacuateur sanguin comprend en outre un couvercle (18) pourvu d'un logement (28) formé sur la surface extérieure du couvercle et permettant à l'opérateur d'exécuter avec une seule main la procédure d'encapsulation de la canule pointue d'autotransfusion (26). Ce logement stocke et libère un capuchon (58) servant à encapsuler et à sceller l'extrémité distale de la canule pointue d'autotransfusion. Cette procédure d'encapsulation exécutée avec une seule main par l'opérateur consiste à désaccoupler la canule pointue d'autotransfusion du couvercle de l'évacuateur. Une fois introduit dans le logement, le capuchon s'adapte par déclic sur la canule pointue et l'obture hermétiquement. L'opérateur peut ensuite retirer en toute sécurité la canule pointue ainsi capuchonnée du logement du couvercle, sans crainte de contamination.
