ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Hydrocarbylsufonyl carbohydrazides of the following structural formulae are disclosed for use as blowing agents: Image and Image The compounds wherein the R groups are alkyl are novel, as are the polymeric products. This divisional application discloses a composition comprising a gas-expandable polymeric material and a bis(hydrocarbylsulfonyl) carbohydrazide of the formula Image wherein R is selected from aryl having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, aralkyl having 7 to 12 carbon atoms, alkaryl having 7 to 12 carbon atoms and cycloalkyl having 5 to 9 carbon atoms, as well as a method of expanding a gas-expandable polymeric material comprising heating the above composition to a temperature in excess of the decomposition temperature of the bis(hydro- carbylsulfonyl) carbohydrazide.
