BLO?CUT RA? ?REVE?TER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A preventer comprises a housing with a through bore. Rams are arranged in the cavity of the housing to recipro- cate therein relative to the bore. The distance between the guides which are in the plane parallel to the plane of the axis of the through bore reduces uniformly in the direction from the housing ?eriphery to said bore, the ram packer being reinforced from the bore side with radial metal members while the body of the ram is comprised of a plurality of members adapted to move relative to one another during move- ment of the ram.
