ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to board game apparatus which comprises a surface which is provided with a playing area having an array of playing positions arranged regularly with respect to one another. At least some of the playing positions have one of a number of surface characteristics inscribed thereon. A plurality of playing pieces are used to play the game, each playing piece having one of a different number of shapes each arranged so as to cover, substantially exactly, a whole number of playing positions on the playing surface.
