A board turner is intended for use on a conveyor for transporting large volumes of boards. The conveyor defines a plane for carrying boards and the board turner has a rotation unit and a gripping unit mounted on the rotation unit. The gripping unit has an open position and a closed position and is switchable between these positions in response to a signal from a sensor. In the open position, the gripping unit rotates past the carrying plane without making contact with the synchronously arriving board. A signal from the sensor switches the gripping unit between the open position and the closed position while the gripping unit grips two opposite surfaces of a sideways extending part of the board and continues to rotate above the belt conveyor in order to turn the board in this way.
Un retourneur de planches est destiné à être employé sur un convoyeur pour le transport de grands volumes de planches. Le convoyeur définit un plan de transport des planches et le retourneur de planches comporte un dispositif de rotation et un dispositif de préhension est monté sur le dispositif de rotation. Le dispositif de préhension comprend une position ouverte et une position fermée et peut passer d'une position à l'autre en réaction à un signal provenant d'un capteur. En position ouverte, le dispositif de préhension tourne au-delà du plan de transport sans toucher à la planche arrivant de manière synchrone. Un signal du capteur fait passer le dispositif de préhension de la position ouverte à la position fermée lorsque le dispositif de préhension saisit les surfaces opposées de la partie de la planche se prolongeant latéralement et continue de tourner au-dessus du convoyeur à courroie afin de tourner la planche dans cette direction.
