ABSTRACT Expandable synthetic resinous bodies which are capable of being expanded to thermal collapse- -resistant foams are prepared by impregnating a thermo- plastic synthetic resinous body preferably an alkenyl aromatic resin body, with a blowing or expanding agent, for example, dichlorodifluoromethane, and a crosslinking agent, for example, boron trifluoride. Such impreg- nation can readily be carried out without the aid of an aqueous suspension.
