A body electrode comprises one or more galvanically active sensor(s) which is (are) combined on the body contact side with a layer (4) capable of adhering to the skin. The layer (4) comprises an electrically conductive, adherent, elastic hydrophilic material. The side of the sensor or sensors facing away from the body and the layer capable of adhering to the skin are covered with a non-adherent covering layer (5). Both the said layers each comprise a castable polymer which is cast in a mold and then hardened. Avoiding the stamping processes, the electrode may be produced in a cost-effective manner by casting.
