A method and apparatus for cooling a human being (100) utilizes skin temperature feedback to control the amount of cooling. When the measured skin temperature reaches a preset high temperature, the human being (100) is cooled until the measured skin temperature reaches a preset low temperature, and then cooling of the human being stops. In one embodiment, the preset high temperature is about 35 degrees Centigrade and the preset low temperature is about 33 degrees Centigrade. Cooling of the human being (100) resumes whenever the preset high temperature is reached and pauses whenever the preset low temperature is reached to thereby provide intermittent cooling to the human being. The invention is also applicable to heating a human being (100).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de refroidir un être humain (100) au moyen de la rétroaction de la température de la peau permettant de commander la quantité de refroidissement. Quand la température de la peau mesurée atteint une température élevée établie au préalable, l'être humain (100) est refroidi jusqu'au moment où la température de la peau mesurée atteint une température basse établie au préalable, puis le refroidissement de l'être humain est arrêté. Dans un mode de réalisation, la température élevée établie au préalable est d'environ 35 degrés Centigrade et la température basse établie au préalable est d'environ 33 degrés Centigrade. Le refroidissement de l'être humain (100) est repris quand la température élevée établie au préalable est atteinte et est arrêté quand la température basse établie au préalable est atteinte, de manière à conférer un refroidissement intermittent à l'être humain. Le procédé et l'appareil selon l'invention peuvent également être utilisés pour le réchauffement d'un être humain (100).
