TITLE: BOILER, AND A TUBE ASSEMBLY THEREFOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tube assembly for a boiler has lower and upper drums, and a plurality of tubes extending between the drums. At least one downcomer pipe is provided extending between the drums. An inlet is provided in the downcomer pipe, for sensing the water level within the tube assembly. To prevent fluctuations in the sensed water level, caused by, for example, turbulence in the water, the downcomer pipe includes a section of large diameter adjacent to the upper drum. Additionally, the tube assembly can include a protective shield covering the inlet, to further reduce the possibility of unwanted fluctuations in the sensed pressure. A boiler incorporating the tube assembly additionally has a housing, and a source of heated gas, for example a burner of fossil fuels.
