A railway vehicle truck bolster friction shoe pocket includes a sloped rear wall and longintudinally spaced sidewalls depending from the rear wall to form a friction shoe pocket having open top and bottom ends for receiving a variable rate type of friction shoe. During rotation and translation of the bolster with respect to the truck sideframe, the outboard friction shoe pocket sidewall is repeatedly impacted by the outer and upper corner of the friction shoe. The impacting causes protuberances to form in the outboard sidewall, but only on the upper portion of the wall. The same sidewall is provided with a relieved section across the entire sidewall upper portion in order to eliminate the impact contact area between the upper portion of the friction shoe and the upper portion of the outboard sidewall. Eliminating the contact area eliminates the formation of protuberances and extends the life of the bolster.

Cette invention concerne un logement de patin de friction de traverse pivot de bogie ferroviaire qui comprend une paroi arrière inclinée et des parois latérales espacées faisant un avec la paroi arrière pour constituer un logement à dessus et dessous ouverts adaptés pour recevoir un patin de friction à coefficient de friction variable. € la rotation et à la translation de la traverse par rapport aux longerons du bogie, la paroi latérale extérieure de l'objet de l'invention est heurtée de façon répétée par le coin extérieur supérieur du patin de friction. Ces chocs finissent par produire des bosses dans ladite paroi latérale, mais seulement dans sa partie supérieure. Cette même paroi latérale comporte dorénavant un évidement dans sa partie supérieure pour éliminer les chocs qui s'y produisent. Cette disposition constructive a pour effet d'éliminer la formation des bosses susmentionnées et ajoute à la durée de vie utile de la traverse.
