A bolting system which reduces the peak stresses on the lowermost threads without the need for an insert or special thread designs. A nut having inside threads engages a bolt. The load on the nut is transferred to the work piece through a stool. The stool supports the nut near its uppermost portion, thereby placing at least a portion of the threads of the nut in tension. Stretching of the nut reduces the peak stresses on the lower threads. The nut may have a tapered outside diameter near its bottom, thereby allowing the nut to flex under load to further reduce the peak stresses on the lowermost threads.
Cette invention concerne un boulon qui réduit les pointes de charge s'exerçant sur ses filets inférieurs sans insert ni filetage spécial. Le couple de serrage de l'écrou est reporté sur la pièce à boulonner par l'intermédiaire d'une pièce d'appui. La partie supérieure de l'écrou se cale sur cette pièce d'appui de façon à soumettre au moins une partie de ses filets à un effort de traction. La traction exercée sur l'écrou a pour effet de réduire la pointe de charge s'exerçant sur les filets inférieurs du boulon. L'écrou peut présenter un diamètre extérieur progressivement réduit vers le bas avec pour effet la possibilité de fléchir sous charge pour soustraire davantage lesdits filets inférieurs aux pointes de charge.
