This invention is for bonded activated alumina with good properties of adsorption and improved mechanical properties. The process for fabricating this bonded activated alumina is characterized by the fact that it involves curing the activated alumina, at atmospheric pressure, in the presence of a complexing agent of the cation Al3+, then exposing the said activated alumina to a thermal treatment at a temperature between about 100°C and about 500°C. The activated alumina, which tends to be in bead form, is well adapted for use as an adsorbent in procedures to eliminate impurities from fluids.

La présente invention a pour objet des agglomérés d'alumine activée présentant de bonnes propriétés d'adsorption et des propriétés mécaniques améliorées. Le procédé d'obtention desdits agglomérés est caractérisé par le fait qu'il consiste à effectuer le mûrissement d'agglomérés d'alumine activée, sous pression atmosphérique, en présence d'un agent complexant du cation Al 3+ , puis à soumettre lesdits agglomérés à un traitement thermique à une température comprise entre environ 100°C et environ 500°C. Les agglomérés d'alumine qui sont préférentiellement sous forme de billes sont bien adaptés pour être utilisés comme adsorbants dans des procédés d'élimination des impuretés contenues dans un fluide.
