Bonded fluff structures and a method for producing such bonded fluff structures in which a pulp sheet having a material suitable for producing fluff and a heat activatable fiber material is fiberized to produce a mixture of fluff and heat activatable fibers. The mixture is contacted with a hot air stream, heating the heat activatable fibers to an activation temperature. The resulting heated mixture is then deposited onto a forming structure, forming a bonded fluff/fiber composite matrix structure.

Cette invention concerne des structures formées de flocons liés et un procédé permettant de produire ces mêmes structures. Dans ce procédé une feuille de pâte contenant un matériau approprié pour produire des flocons et un matériau de fibres pouvant être activé par la chaleur est défibrée pour produire un mélange de flocons et de fibres thermoactivables. Le mélange est ensuite mis en contact avec un écoulement d'air chaud, ceci ayant pour effet de chauffer les fibres thermoactivables jusqu'à une température d'activation. Le mélange chauffé résultant est ensuite déposé sur une structure de formage, pour former une structure à matrice composite liée flocons/fibres.
