ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A disposable sprue cup for use in a metal casting process using a mold pattern embedded in unbound process sand having a grain size, the disposable sprue cup being made of bonded sand having a grain size substantially equal to the grain size of the process sand and having a binder that breaks down under the heat of resident metal remaining in the cup after the casting process is completed.
