Agglomerates having nominal diameters in the range of 40 to 800 micrometers of zeolitic molecular sieve particles having a mean particle size of 0.5 to 20 micrometers which are bonded with particles of generally spherical amorphous colloidal-sized silica particles having a nominal diameter of 5 to 80 nanometers are found to have increased adsorption capacity for many molecular species due to the development in the binder of a pore system created by the packing of the silica spheres. When the molecular sieves employed are highly siliceous and hydrophobic, the agglomerates are ideally suited for use in odor elimination applications in which unagglomerated molecular sieve particles create dusting and handling problems.

Divulgation d'agglomérats, de diamètre de 40 à 800 micromètres, de particules de tamis moléculaire en zéolite ayant une granulométrie moyenne de 0,5 à 20 micromètres, liées à des particules de silice colloïdale amorphe, généralement sphériques, ayant un diamètre nominal de 5 à 80 nanomètres. Ces agglomérats ont la propriété d'accroître la capacité d'adsorption de nombreuses espèces moléculaires, à cause de la création d'un réseau de pores dans le liant, due à l'entassement des sphères de silice. Lorsqu'on utilise des tamis moléculaires hydrophobes à haute teneur en silice, ces agglomérats sont idéaux pour être appliqués à des problèmes d'élimination d'odeurs, pour lesquels des particules de tamis moléculaire non agglomérées créent des problèmes de manutention et d'effusement.
