A bone cap implant (10) of the type used to cover a remaining portion of a resected bone, such as metatarsal, metacarpal or phalangeal bones. The bone cap serves as an articulation surface for the proximal phalanx in the metatarsophalangeal, metacarpophalangeal or interphalangeal joints. A method of making the bone cap by forming an existent tubular sleeve (12) made of expanded PTFE integrally bonded to non-expanded PTFE (14) without the use of adhesives. A method of forming a structure onto an existent structure, such as one made of expanded PTFE, by sintering without the use of adhesives.
