A method of measuring bone mineral density (BMD) of a selected region of bone in the small body portion (such as a limb or extremity), using a mini C-arm (20) X-ray fluoroscopic imaging system to acquire the data from which the BMD is calculated. Apparatus for performing the method includes a tray (42) for positioning the small body portion (34) in the X-ray beam (26) path of the imaging system and a sample of bone (36) of predetermined density supported by the tray in side-by-side relation to the selected region of bone.
L'invention a trait à une technique de mesure de la teneur minérale de l'os (BMD) d'une région sélectionnée d'un os dans une partie du corps de petite taille (un membre, notamment, ou une extrémité) utilisant un mini-système d'imagerie fluoroscopique aux rayons X, à bras en forme de C (20) aux fins de l'acquisition de données à partir desquelles est évaluée la teneur minérale de l'os. L'appareil permettant de mettre en oeuvre le procédé comporte un plateau (42) sur lequel positionner la partie du corps de petite taille (34) dans le trajet du faisceau de rayons X (26) du système d'imagerie. Un échantillon d'os (36) d'une teneur minérale prédéterminée repose sur le plateau aux cotés de la région d'os sélectionnée.
