A bone plate assembly (10) is provided for fixation of spaced vertebra. The bone plate assembly (10) has at least one through passage (15, 25) for securing the plate to bone with a bone fixation screw (23). The threaded shaft of a bone fixation screw (23) is inserted through a bushing (30) located in the through passage (15, 22) of the bone plate assembly (10) and the screw (23) is thereby threadably secured to the underlying bone and the bushing (30) is then compressed inward against the head (25) of the screw (23) with cams (37) that are actuated by rotating the bushing in the through passage (15, 22) whereby the screw (23) is locked relative to the bone plate assembly (10). The bushing (30) is not only compressed inwardly against the head (25) of the screw (23) but is also compressed downwardly by the cams (37) into a seat (39) to clamp separate elements (11, 12) of the bone plate assembly (10) together. An access passage (51) in upper surface (41, 42) of bushing (30) is dimensioned (d) for receiving screw head (25) therethrough for access to a socket bore (35) within the bushing (30).

La tige filetée d'une vis de fixation d'os (23) est insérée dans une bague (30) située dans le passage traversant (15, 22) de l'ensemble à plaque vissée (10) de manière que la vis (23) est vissée à l'os sous-jacent, et que la bague (30) est comprimée vers l'intérieur contre la tête (25) de la vis (23) au moyen de cames (37) actionnées par rotation de la bague dans le passage traversant (15, 22), la vis (23) étant fixée par rapport à l'ensemble à plaque vissée (10). La bague n'est pas uniquement comprimée vers l'intérieur contre la tête (25) de la vis (23), mais également vers le bas par les cames (37), dans un siège (39), de manière à serrer des éléments séparés (11, 12) de l'ensemble de plaque à vis (10). Un passage d'accès (51) situé dans une surface supérieure (41, 42) de la bague (30) est dimensionné (d) de manière à recevoir une tête de vis (25) pour l'accès à un alésage de douille (35) dans la bague (30).
