ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Process for the preparation of a tricalcium phosphate bone ceramic for use as a bone implant, particularly for filling cavities or for fixing bone fragments after fractures and tricalcium phosphate shaped ceramic member produced by this process. The invention relates to a process for producing a tricalcium bone ceramic for use as a bone implant, particularly for filling cavities or fixing bone fragments after fractures and the tricalcium phosphate shaped ceramic member produced by this process with a microporosity or macroporosity for an increased absorption of an active ingredient, such as an antiseptic agent, chemotherapeutic agent or broad- spectrum microbicide and with an outer coating for long-term release of the active ingredient.
