A flexible, impact resistant cover for a booklet, the cover comprising: a cover assembly including a cover layer (10) secured to a first impact resistant thermoplastic layer (14), and an outer layer (12) on the cover layer whose outer surface has been formed so as to present a decorative finish. A second impact resistant thermoplastic layer (16) is secured to the first impact resistant thermoplastic layer (14) and in which an IC chip (22) is at least partly embedded, wherein the first and second impact resistant thermoplastic layers (14,16) provide a shock absorbing function to protect the IC chip (22).
