Abstract A boot has an insole with openings in the heel and forefoot regions, which openings are filled with a soft resilient material, thereby providing a comfortable cushioned insole at those principal weight bearing regions of the foot. A shoemaking method for the boot includes the steps of lasting an upper to an insole, cutting holes in the insole at the heel and forefoot regions, filling the holes with preferably a foam plastic, and attaching an outsole to the upper/insole assembly.
