ABSTRACT BORATED, HYDROLYZED EPOXIDES AND LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING THEM Borated, hydrolyzed hydrocarbyl epoxides are produced by hydrolyzing hydrocarbyl epoxides in the presence of boric acid and borating the products; they are useful friction-reducing additives for lubricants and have excellent oxidation- and corrosion-inhibiting properties.
