ABSTRACT This invention relates to a boring assembly comprising a column and a boring machine mounted on a feed member, which is movable along the column. The column may be erected from two or more elements, a coupling between the elements comprising female and male members on the elements, said members having co-opera- ting wedge surfaces, which may be urged into contact by tightening means. A spring is adapted, upon tightening of the coupling, to accumulate spring force urging the wedge surfaces of the members against each other. The boring machine and the feed member are separable into two separate units and inter- connected by quick locking means. The feed member is guided along the column with the aid of rotary members on opposite sides of the column. Two rotary members on one side of the column are supported by a common carrier pivotably supported relative to the feed member, the pivot axis of the carrier being eccen- trically disposed with respect to the rotary members.
