ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A boring process involves the step suspending a boring bar for boring a hole in a work for pivotal movement in either directions. Then, the work is brought below the boring bar with the axle of said hole being vertical. Thereafter, the boring bar is lowered and eccentrically passed through the hole in the work and slidably and rotatably supported at least at two points thereof axially spaced apart. Then, the boring is effected by the rotation and axial relative movement of the boring bar with respect to the work, with the axis of the boring bar aligned with the axis of the work. Apparatus for carrying out the boring is provided.
