The present invention provides a method for targeting boron atoms to tumor cells in a patient. The method comprises the steps of: (A) administering a targeting composition comprising a conjugate of a first member of a binding pair and an antibody, wherein the antibody selectively binds to antigens produced by or associated with the tumor cells, and allowing the conjugate to localize at said tumor cells; (B) optionally, administering a clearing composition, and allowing the clearing composition to clear non-localized conjugate from circulation; (C) administering a boron-containing compound comprising a conjugate comprising a complementary member of said binding pair and boron atoms, and allowing the compound to localize at the tumor cells. The method may further comprise the step of irradiating the boron atoms of the boron compound, thereby effecting BNCT of the tumor cells. Compositions and kits for carrying out the method also are provided.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de ciblage dans lequel des atomes de bore sont envoyés à des cellules tumorales d'un patient. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: (A) administration d'une composition à cible comprenant un conjugué d'un premier élément d'une paire de liaison et d'un anticorps, lequel se fixe sélectivement aux antigènes produits par ou associés aux cellules tumorales et permettant au conjugué de s'implanter dans lesdites cellules tumorales; (B) éventuellement, administration d'une composition de clarification, destinée à éliminer un conjugué non localisé de la circulation; (C) administration d'un composé de bore comprenant un conjugué comportant un élément complémentaire à la paire de liaison et aux atomes de bore, ledit composé s'implantant dans les cellules tumorales. Le procédé peut de plus comporter une étape de rayonnement des atomes de bore du composé de bore, permettant de ce fait de réaliser une thérapie par capture de neutron de bore (BNCT) des cellules tumorales. L'invention concerne aussi des compositions et des kits permettant la mise en oeuvre du procédé.
