A bottom lining for electrolytic cells formed from steel pots for use in primary production and secondary refining, made from a monolithic stamping of a finely granulated powder having a high alumina content, and a process for producing same. The powder is obtained from aluminum industrial scrap recovery and salt slags and has the following components in the following amounts based on dried weight: Al2O3 40-90% AlN. 0.1-25% MgO 4-20% SiO2 0.5-15% CaO 0.1-15% Al (metallic) 0.1-10% Si (metallic) 0.1-10% Fe2O3 0.1-5% C not more than 5% F not more than 5% Na2O 0.1-5% K2O 0.1-2% TiO2 0.1-2% Others not more than 5% Loss on ignition not more than 10%.

Cette invention concerne une garniture de fond pour cellules d'électrolyse, en particulier pour cellules d'électrolyse de première fusion et d'affinage de seconde fusion, le corps principal des cellules se présentant sous la forme d'une cuve en acier et la garniture de fond sous la forme, au moins pour partie, d'une pièce emboutie monolithique renfermant une poudre fine à haute teneur en alumine obtenue par récupération des rejets et scories d'aluminerie, ladite poudre étant constituée au moins des éléments ci-après dont les proportions en poids et à l'état sec sont comme suit : Al2O3 de 40 à 90%; AlN de .1 à 25%; MgO de 4 à 20%; SiO2 de .5 à 15%; CaO de .1 à 15%; Al (métal) de .1 à 10%; Si (métal) de .1 à 10%; Fe2O3 de .1 à 5%; C 5% max.; F 5% max.; Na2O de .1 à 5%; K2O de .1 à 2%; TiO2 de .1 à 2%; autres 5% max. Pertes au recuit 10 % max. Par ailleurs, l'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de la garniture de fond de cellules électrolytiques.
