The invention relates to a roof and roof assembly for a motor vehicle. The invention also relates to methods of making the same. The roof assembly comprises of a roof structure formed from a sheet of metal material and defining a roof opening. An opening roof assembly is mounted to the roof structure and movable between opened and closed positions with respect to the roof opening. A single piece of sheet metal is stamped to integrally form a water-catching channel and roof reinforcement portions. The sheet metal is fixed to the roof structure adjacent to the opening so that the channel extends into the opening to enable the channel to catch water running off the roof structure into the opening when the opening roof assembly is in the opened position. Conduits communicate with the water-catching channel for draining water from the water-catching channel.

La présente invention se rapporte à un pavillon et à un assemblage de toit destinés aux véhicules motorisés ainsi qu'aux méthodes de fabrication connexes. L'ensemble comprend un pavillon formé à même une feuille métallique et comportant une ouverture. L'ensemble de toit ouvrant est installé sur le pavillon et permet d'ouvrir ou de fermer le toit. Une seule pièce de tôle est matricée en vue de la formation intégrale d'une rainure pour capter l'eau et de portions pour renforcer le toit. La pièce de tôle est fixée au pavillon, à côté de l'ouverture, de manière à ce que la rainure se prolonge jusque dans l'ouverture pour capter l'eau s'écoulant du pavillon avant qu'elle ne s'égoutte dans l'ouverture lorsque l'ensemble de toit ouvrant est en position ouverte. Des conduites d'évacuation communiquent avec ladite rainure.
