An actuator for effecting bottom hole rotation consisting of an upper wash pipe (10) having a spiral groove mandrel (34) that is in operative association with a ball clutch assembly (48) that is secured to the upper wash pipe (10). The weight placed on the actuator at the wash pipe connection is effective to drive the mandrel (34) and ball clutch assembly (48) through a given amount of rotation, e.g., five rotations per actuation can be applied to a selected working tool.
