BOTTOM UNLOADING MECHANISM FOR A STORAGE STRUCTURE Abstract of the Disclosure A bottom unloading mechanism for unloading generally free flowing material from a silo or storage structure. The unloader includes a sweep auger mounted to rotate about the center of the silo and undercut the stored material and convey it to the center of the silo where it is delivered to a discharge auger that operates in a radially extending trough in the silo foundation. The sweep auger is mounted on a turntable and is rotated about the silo in increments by a ratchet and pawl mech- anism which interconnects a drive unit on the outside of the silo with a drive shaft. The inner end of the drive shaft carries a sprocket that engages a series of drive pins on the turntable to rotate the turntable and sweep auger. The turntable is provided with a plurality of holes located between the drive pins, and the teeth of the sprocket act to force stored material through the holes to prevent clogging of the drive pins. Rota- tion of the discharge auger is transmitted through a vertical drive shaft located in the inner end of the trough to the sweep auger to rotate the sweep auger about its axis. A rotating slinger is located on the vertical shaft and aids in the delivery of the stored material to the discharge auger. The sweep auger is composed of a series of shaft sections of different diameter with the innermost shaft section having the largest diameter. A helical flight is associated with each shaft section and the flight on each section has a progressively varying radial depth to provide a uniformly increasing rate of delivery in a direction toward the inner end of the sweep auger.
