A bound volume of cartographic material that includes a plurality of rectangular leaves of a first height and width, with each of the leaves having a top and a bottom edge and a first and second edge, and a cover. The cover includes a first panel and a second panel, with the first panel having a first and a second side edge. The first panel is bound by a metal binding mechanism along the first side edge, and the second panel is hingedly connected to the second side edge of the first panel. The second panel is proportioned to fold over the first panel and to fold out and lie adjacent the second side edge of the first panel. The second panel, when folded out, displays first, small scale cartographic indicia and key grid indicia, with the key grid indicia including multiple grid sections overlying the first cartographic indicia. Each of the leaves defines second, large scale cartographic indicia and bears a key grid indicium, with the cartographic indicia on an individual leaf corresponding to the cartographic indicia in one of the grid sections, and the key grid indicium on the individual leaf corresponding to the key grid indicia for one of the grid sections. The second panel and the leaves may be used in juxtaposition to view, coordinate, and compare the large scale and the small scale cartographic indicia in a side-by-side relationship.
Volume relié de matériel cartographique comportant une série de feuillets rectangulaires d'une première hauteur et largeur, chacun de ces feuillets ayant un bord supérieur et inférieur, un premier et un deuxième bord et une couverture. Cette dernière est constituée d'un premier et d'un deuxième panneau, le premier panneau ayant un premier et un deuxième bord latéral. Le premier panneau est lié par un mécanisme de liage en métal le long du premier bord latéral, et le deuxième panneau est relié par une articulation au deuxième bord latéral du premier panneau. La taille du deuxième panneau lui permet de se replier sur le premier panneau et de se déplier pour reposer à côté du deuxième bord latéral du premier panneau. Le deuxième panneau, lorsqu'il est déplié, fait apparaître une première série de renvois aux cartes à petite échelle et des indices renvoyant à un réseau de coordonnées comportant plusieurs sections de coordonnées se superposant aux premiers indices de renvois aux cartes. Chacun de ces feuillets permet de voir une deuxième série de renvois aux cartes à grande échelle et présente un indice de coordonnées sur le feuillet particulier correspondant aux indices de renvoi aux cartes, ainsi que l'indice de coordonnées du feuillet particulier correspondant aux indices de renvoi aux cartes de l'une des sections de coordonnées. Le deuxième panneau et les feuillets peuvent être utilisés en juxtaposition pour voir, coordonner et comparer les indices de renvoi aux cartes à grande et à petite échelle en les mettant côte à côte.
