The bow is improved in that its stiffness can be adjusted. A longitudinal channel (24) is formed in the stick of the bow and contains a stiffening stem (25) connected to a screw/nut system (26-27) which is controlled by a knob (32). The stick may, for example, be made of a moulded synthetic material.
