The invention provides a linear peptide which is an analog of bradykinin having a binding site responsible for the affinity of the peptide to a receptor on a target cell. The analog having a reduced isostere linkage instead of a peptide bond between an amino acid of the binding site and an adjacent amino acid, so that the analog is capable of acting as a competitive inhibitor of the endogenous peptide by binding to the receptor.
