(Case No. 7080) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A brake cylinder device having a spring-applied primary piston that is slidably mounted on a piston rod of a fluid pressure operated secondary piston. A stop is formed on the piston rod so as to be engaged by the primary piston when actuated in a brake application direction by its spring, while the secondary piston actuates the piston rod indepen- dently of the primary piston when the fluid pressure operated secondary piston is actuated. The free end of the piston rod operates within a hydraulic cylinder to generate hydraulic pressure in a hydraulic brake unit to which the hydraulic cylinder is connected to obtain a hydraulic brake application responsive to either a spring applied parking brake or a pneu- matic service brake.
