A device (1) for use with a cable-operated door (3), such as garage doors (3) and the like, and a door assembly including the same. The device (1) is intended to reduce the risk of the door (3) falling, or at the very least slow down its descent, in the event of a failure in the counterbalancing mechanism of the door (3), which is generally represented by a loss of tension in a given tensioned cable (5) operating the door (3). The brake device (1) includes a support bracket (9), and a guiding assembly (15) and a braking assembly (17) mounted onto the support bracket (9). The braking assembly includes a swivel component (18) having opposite braking arm (19) and lever portion (20), the lever portion cooperating with the tensioned cable (3) so that in the event of a loss of tension in the cable (5), the braking arm (19) is urged onto an adjacent rail (7) via biasing means (21) for anchoring a knife (45) of the braking arm (19) into the rail (7) and stopping, or at the very least, slowing down the descent of the door (3), with respect to the rail (7).

L'invention concerne un dispositif (1) destiné à être utilisé avec une porte à commande par câble (3), telle qu'une porte de garage (3) et analogue, ainsi qu'un ensemble porte doté de ce dispositif. Le dispositif (1) selon l'invention permet de réduire le risque d'une chute de la porte (3), ou du moins de ralentir sa descente en cas de défaillance du mécanisme d'équilibrage de la porte (3), défaillance provenant généralement d'une diminution de tension dans un câble tendu donné (5) actionnant la porte (3). Le dispositif frein (1) comprend un palier support (9), ainsi qu'un ensemble de guidage (15) et un ensemble frein (17) montés sur le palier support (9). L'ensemble frein comprend un composant pivotant (18) comprenant un bras de freinage opposé (19) et une partie levier (20), cette dernière coopérant avec le câble tendu (3) de sorte que, dans l'éventualité d'une diminution de tension du câble (5), le bras de freinage (19) est entraîné sur un rail adjacent (7) par l'intermédiaire d'un moyen de sollicitation (21) pour ancrer une lame (45) du bras de freinage (19) dans le rail (7) et stopper la porte (3), ou du moins à ralentir sa descente par rapport au rail (7).
